Machu Picchu Peru Travel    Hoteles

Peru is the third-largest country in South America. Lima is the capital of Peru. Machu Picchu discovered 1911 by Hiram Bingham. Considered to be one of the world's greatest architectural / archaeological monument. At 2,400 meters above sea level, in Urubamba (Cusco). Machu Picchu amaze all. The stone construction format is spread over a narrow uneven mountain top, near a 400 meter cliff off the Urubamba River canyon.

Archaeologists have yet to uncover the full history and purpose of Machu Picchu. The site about one square kilometer, and stands in a magical region to the Inca community. It is said that its magic is built off its relationship and positioning off the the Andes mountains with the Amazon river.

Perhaps, Machu Picchu mystery may never be fully explained. For some, it may have been an advance settlement for planned further expansions by the Incas. Others believe Machu Picchu have been a monastery where young girls were trained to serve the Inca and the Willac Uno (Priest). This theory is from the fact of the 109 of 135 bodies discovered while exploring the site were female.

The surprising perfection and beauty of Machu Picchu's walls, built by joining stone to stone without using any cement or adhesive whatsoever, has led to many myths developing around how the city was constructed. It is also said that there was a magic plant which could dissolve and compress stone. Putting aside the mysteries and myths, the real attractiveness of Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, lies in its squares, aqueducts and watchtowers, its observatories and in its sun clock, evidence of the wisdom and skill of the city's Andean builders.
